I'm Looking Forward to You — Nima Yushij Persian Dancer Canvas

I'm Looking Forward to You turns Nima Yushij's image of waiting at nightfall into contemporary Persian wall art. Through a graceful sense of movement together with flowing Persian calligraphy, the piece creates visual movement while preserving the cultural character at the center of the design.

Poetry and Meaning

I'm Looking Forward to You quotes the opening of “To Ra Man Cheshm Dar Raham” by Nima Yushij, the father of modern Persian poetry. At nightfall, as shadows darken on the branches of the talajan tree of his native Mazandaran, the poet keeps watching the road for the one he loves — one of the most tender images of waiting in Persian verse. The dancing figure turns the words into movement.

تو را من چشم در راهم، شباهنگام
که می گیرند در شاخ تلاجن سایه ها رنگ سیاهی
وزان دلخسته گانت راست اندوهی فراهم

English translation:
I keep watching the road for you, at nightfall,
when the shadows on the talajan branches turn black,
and sorrow gathers for those whose hearts grow weary for you. — Nima Yushij
