Rumi's Poems — Emerald Persian Calligraphy Canvas

Rumi's Poems is designed for viewers who want Persian art to feel both rooted and current. The use of flowing Persian calligraphy creates a layered composition that can be appreciated from across the room and discovered again at close range.

Poetry and Meaning

Rumi's Poems comes from Rumi's ghazal “Yar-e mara, ghar-e mara” in the Divan-e Shams (Ghazal 37). Addressing the Beloved, Rumi says: you are the drop and the ocean, kindness and wrath, sugar and poison — every opposite in life is you. The line ends with a tender plea: so do not hurt me any more. The calligraphy itself carries the rhythm of the words.

قطره تویی بحر تویی لطف تویی قهر تویی
قند تویی زهر تویی بیش میازار مرا

English translation:
You are the drop, you are the ocean; you are kindness, you are wrath;
you are sugar, you are poison — do not wound me any more. — Rumi, Divan-e Shams, Ghazal 37
