Sama Dance — Rumi Vintage Persian Calligraphy Canvas

Sama Dance is designed for viewers who want Persian art to feel both rooted and current. The use of a graceful sense of movement together with flowing Persian calligraphy creates a layered composition that can be appreciated from across the room and discovered again at close range.

Poetry and Meaning

Sama Dance pairs the Turkish saying “Ya olduğun gibi görün, ya göründüğün gibi ol” with its Persian translation: either be seen as you are, or be as you are seen. It is a call to authenticity — no gap between the self we show and the self we are. The saying is widely attributed to Rumi, especially in Konya and across Turkey, although it does not appear in his Persian works. The dancing figure turns the words into movement.

یا اولدیغک کبی کورون یا کوروندیکک کبی اول
یا آنگونه که هستی دیده شو یا آنگونه که دیده می شوی باش

English translation:
Either appear as you are, or be as you appear.
Either be seen as you are, or be as you are seen.

Designed for Meaningful Spaces

Sama Dance is well suited to a living room, bedroom, office, entryway, dining area, or meditation space. Its warm vintage character works with modern, minimalist, transitional, and eclectic interiors, and its cultural focus makes it a thoughtful gift for a wedding, housewarming, Nowruz, birthday, or anyone connected to Persian art.
