About the artwork

Created as meaningful Persian wall art, Hich brings flowing Persian calligraphy into a modern setting. Its balanced contemporary palette gives the artwork enough presence to anchor a room while leaving space for the poetry, symbolism, and personal associations to remain central.

Inscription and Meaning

Hich explores hich — “nothing” — one of the most powerful motifs in modern Iranian art, made famous by Parviz Tanavoli's Heech sculptures. The text on the canvas reminds us that in art, hich does not always mean emptiness, decay or absurdity; sometimes it is a symbol of thirst and longing. The calligraphy itself carries the rhythm of the words.

هیچ در هنر، همیشه به معنای نیستی، تباهی و پوچی نیست، بلکه گاهی نمادی از عطش و تمنا به‌شمار می‌رود.

English translation:
In art, “nothing” does not always mean nonexistence, ruin or emptiness; sometimes it stands for thirst and longing.

Designed for Meaningful Spaces

Hich is well suited to a living room, bedroom, office, entryway, dining area, or meditation space. Its balanced contemporary palette works with modern, minimalist, transitional, and eclectic interiors, and its cultural focus makes it a thoughtful gift for a wedding, housewarming, Nowruz, birthday, or anyone connected to Persian art.
