The Life — Sohrab Sepehri Black and Gold Portrait Canvas

The Life turns a reflection on life's comings and goings into contemporary Persian wall art. Through expressive figurative imagery together with flowing Persian calligraphy, the piece creates visual movement while preserving the cultural character at the center of the design.

Poetry and Meaning

The Life carries a popular Persian reflection: life is the memory of our coming and our going, and in the moment of arriving and leaving, each of us is alone. The lines are widely shared under the name of Sohrab Sepehri, though they do not appear in his collected poems, Hasht Ketab. The portrait gives the words a human face.

زندگی، خاطره‌ آمدن و رفتن ماست
لحظه‌ آمدن و رفتن ما تنهاييست
من دلم می خواهد

English translation:
Life is the memory of our coming and going;
in the moment of our coming and going, we are alone.
And my heart wishes…

Designed for Meaningful Spaces

The Life is well suited to a living room, bedroom, office, entryway, dining area, or meditation space. Its gold and black palette works with modern, minimalist, transitional, and eclectic interiors, and its cultural focus makes it a thoughtful gift for a wedding, housewarming, Nowruz, birthday, or anyone connected to Persian art.
