When You Are with Me — Saadi Gold Persian Calligraphy Canvas

When You Are with Me turns Saadi's thought that without love all is nothing into contemporary Persian wall art. Through flowing Persian calligraphy, the piece creates visual movement while preserving the cultural character at the center of the design.

Poetry and Meaning

When You Are with Me quotes a quatrain by Saadi (Rubai 10). Even the soberest mind is intoxicated by longing for you, he says, and happy is the one who has lost their heart to your face. Without you, everything in existence is nothing; and even if there were nothing at all — as long as you are here, everything is. The calligraphy itself carries the rhythm of the words.

هشیار سری بود ز سودای تو مست
خوش آنکه ز روی تو دلش رفت ز دست
بی‌تو همه هیچ نیست در ملک وجود

English translation:
Even the soberest head is drunk with longing for you;
happy is the one whose heart was lost to your face.
Without you, all of existence is nothing;
and if nothing were left — since you are here, everything is. — Saadi, Rubaiyat, Rubai 10
